Introducing Margot Sinclair, a talented California raised, New York based artist who we are excited to be showcasing both in store and online.  The daughter of two artists, Margot took a detour into studying Neuroscience at Michigan, before returning to her roots as an artist creating etherial, mixed-media large scale canvases.

In her new collection entitled 'La Floraison' Margot examines growth not as universal but as contextual / environmental.

In her owns words, Margot says:- 'Each work is titled after a specific condition or habitat, situating growth within particular constraints rather than ideal circumstances. The idea of "place" is examined as both physical terrain and emotional state, where each condition suggests distinct roadblocks or barriers, as well as a unique kind of persistence.

A lot of my work examines place as something both physical and emotional. My recent series, Conversations with New York, is similar in this respect, exploring the city as a real, navigable space as well as a mental state shaped by memory, feeling and routine.

A part of that exploration is how the people, landscape and experiences one associates with a place hold emotional residue, which is illustrated in a way by the heavy layering, texture and mixed media incorporated in each painting.

Mediums used in this series: Oil pastel, acrylic, graphite, embroidery (thread).
