A 1950's Medium Oval Serving Dish by Ceramic Artist Albert Thiry
A highly collectable white oval serving dish with dark brown decoration by Albert Thiry (1932-2009). We have three of his serving dishes all in the same colour pallet, two of which are signed beneath.
Albert Thiry, was born in Nice, France in 1932 and moved to renowned pottery town, Vallauris as a child. Here he spent every spare moment in the potteries. He was later employed there, making his own designs. Later, in 1961 he set up his own workshop with his wife Pyot Gavaudan. Together they developed his signature technique of intaglio engraving and decoration in Chamotte clay for utilitarian pieces of rustic simplicity.
